Located 1,709 feet above sea level on top of Harris Hill in Big Flats, NY; Cabin 5 is the clubs operating station. Setup with 2 meter, 70cm, packet, hf, and a wide array of antenna systems it is the place for a member to try a new mode or use a mode not available in their station. The cabin is used for emergency communications and CCARES training, field day, and special events. The station provides an opportunity for people who think they may have an interest in amateur radio to get together with a member and get on the air. Another feature of the cabin is for Tech class license holders to give hf a try with a control operator present. It just may give that member an incentive to upgrade to general or extra class. The station is setup with two hf rigs for both cw and phone operation.

Join the 'Old Timers' social gathering every Thursday from 1-3pm.

If you are not a member of ARAST and want to give amateur radio a try just attend a club meeting, list on the calendar on the home page, and we can setup up a tour. Members who want to find out more at the cabin 5 experience just contact a board member or officer and setup a visit. After your visit and you are familiar with operation of the station you can apply for a key code to use the station.
